Raised Beds for Personal Use

Individuals, groups, and/or families may sign up to use a 4'x10' raised bed to grow and maintain their own plants, flowers and produce. We do not charge a fee for the personal use of a raised bed.

Getting Started

View of individual raised bedsNew to gardening? An individual box is a great way to be introduced to gardening. Don't want to try this on your own? Gather a few friends or family members and work a box together. No experience is necessary. Many participants in the Community Garden and the Garden Coordinator will be happy to help you get started and provide tips and suggestions.

We have a large selection of seeds that can be planted directly in individual boxes. Many plants and seedlings are grown in our greenhouse and are available for planting into individual boxes. Additionally, we teach and encourage seed saving techniques. You may also purchase seeds, plants, and seedlings at local garden centers for planting into your raised bed.

Invasive Plant Policy

New and experienced gardeners occasionally make the mistake of growing plants that quickly take over an entire area. The Community Garden tries to avoid specific plants that are known to be invasive, self-seeding, or known to jump containers.
The following is a partial listing of plants to avoid in the CCLC Community Garden.
