WORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

What are the service times?

Cross and Crown Lutheran Church offers three different services each Sunday:

8:00 a.m.  A short contemplative communion service with music provided by piano.  Holy Communion is observed every Sunday.

9:15 a.m.  Traditional worship with music provided by organ.  The Chancel Choir provides musical leadership from September through May.  A nursery is available for children under 3 years.  Holy Communion is observed on the 1st and 3rd Sundays.

10:45 a.m.  Contemporary worship with music provided by the praise band.  This service uses the video system to enhance the worship experience.  A nursery is available for children under 3 years.  Holy Communion is observed on the 1st and 3rd Sundays.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where should I sit?

There is plenty of seating available in the sanctuary.  Sit wherever you feel comfortable – there are no reserved seats.

What should I wear to church?

There is no right way to dress at Cross and Crown Lutheran Church.  Some people wear their Sunday best, and others dress very casually.  Wear whatever makes you comfortable.

What about my children?

Children are important to the life of Cross and Crown Lutheran Church.  Your children are always welcome to stay with you during the worship service.  Activity bags for young children are available when you enter the sanctuary – please help yourself or ask an usher for assistance.  If you prefer, of course, you may take your children to the nursery for quality care during the service.

 Do you have Sunday School?

Sunday School is provided for children through 6th grade at 10:45 a.m. between September and May.  Children come to worship with their parents, then are excused to go to Sunday School following the children’s sermon.  During the summer months, children are invited to attend Children’s Church.

Adult Sunday School meets each Sunday at 10:45 in the Adult Lounge.  You are invited to attend this discussion-style Bible class.

How can I follow what’s going on during the service?

To make it easy for you to follow the service, we have bulletins available from the ushers as you enter.  The bulletins will tell you the order the service will follow, and everything the congregation needs to say to participate in the service will be printed in the bulletin.  Weekly activities and upcoming events are also listed.

Should I receive Holy Communion?

If you would receive Communion in your home church, you are welcome to Commune at Cross and Crown.  The ushers will indicate when it is time for you to approach the altar.  If you choose not to receive Communion, please come to the altar for a blessing.

What about the offering?

We don’t expect our visitors to put anything in the offering plate – you are our guests.  Our members and regular church family cheerfully give to support our ministries.  The offerings we collect provide the revenues necessary to maintain our buildings, pay our staff, and allow us to provide local and worldwide mission ministries.  10% of all contributions are directed to helping those less fortunate than ourselves.

May I meet the pastors?

The pastors will be available as you exit the sanctuary after the service.  Please introduce yourself and let us know you are a visitor.  Our pastors are also available for private conversation during the week.

Is there a social time after the service?

Please join us after the service for a doughnut and a cup of coffee in the Fellowship Hall.  This is a great time to meet new friends – and of course, as a visitor, your coffee and doughnut are free!

What if I still have questions?

If you still have questions, please ask us!  Our goal is to be a very user-friendly church.  We have greeters and ushers positioned at the main entrace of the church to greet you and answer your questions.  Please do not hesitate to ask them a question or request their assistance.
