Mission Projects
Cross and Crown's mission statement encourages us to serve others in our community and the world. We currently have several mission groups that we partner with regularly.
Cross and Crown Lutheran School utilizes a curriculum strong in academics and integrated with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our goal is to bring the Word of God into the lives of our students. We focus on the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and social areas of growth, developing the skills and knowledge necessary to become capable, caring Christian citizens.
Cross and Crown partners with other churches and organizations around Rohnert Park to help provide food to those in need. NOAH is located on our property in the back of our parking lot. Distribution is on Wednesdays from 4:00-6:00 PM for all residents. Donations of non-perishable food and cash may be dropped off at NOAH or Cross and Crown.
Cross and Crown has an on-going mission project of making blessing bags to hand out to those in need in the community. The bins are located in our narthex. Stop in and pack a bag or two and take them with you to bless someone in the community.
Items in the bag include: peanut butter or cheese and crackers, fruit cup or applesauce, nuts or raisins, cookies, fruit snacks, granola or protein bars, a new pair of socks and a postcard listing the food distributions around the area.
Rohnert Park has been fortunate enough to build a transitional shelter for the unhoused. They opened their doors to 60 residents last fall. Cross and Crown Lutheran Church and School helps sponsor a room there by providing items for a new resident.
We are also collecting hygiene items to provide packets for new residents. If you would like to contribute, there is a bin in the Welcome Center. Items needed are as follows:
- Shampoo
- Soap
- Washcloth
- Toothbrush
- Toothpaste
- Hand Saniter
- Shaving Cream
- Feminine Products
We partner with the Redwood Gospel Mission each year to collect warm clothing for persons in need within our community. These get distributed in November and December by their organization.
Harold's Home is a transitional housing in Sonoma County for unhoused women and their children. Our Women's Ministries has been providing homemade quilts, Easter baskets for the children and Christmas gifts for the women. We have also provided monetary gifts to the facility. Information for the facility is under the umbrella of the Community Action Partnership of Sonoma County.
Cross and Crown is part of the larger Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. One of the mission partners with the ELCA is Lutheran World Relief that provides help to others around the world. We have a quilting group at CCLCS that makes quilts for people displaced around the world through natural disasters or civil unrest. We also donate regularly through our benevolence fund that goes to support this important ministry around the world.
